Blogging is another feasible way to make money online in Kenya and can be very lucrative.
A blog is simply an online journal that is very easy to create and maintain. You can in fact set up a blog in less than five minutes.
Although blogging was popularized by the youth market, more and more business are fast catching up on to the value of blogging and blogs are sprucing up online faster than ever before.
The key to successful blogging is high quality, keyword-rich content coupled with solid monetization channels for your blog traffic.
It’s absolutely important that you have keyword-rich content optimized for both the search engines and adsense (if you use as a monetization channel for your blog) since adsense ads are contextual, culled from the keywords in the surrounding content.
What can you blog about to make good money online in Kenya?
Well, you can run a blog on a wide range of topics ranging from politics, music, business, sports, name it. Your blog can be based on literally any topic that’s of interest to you.
You may offer a mix of news, how-to articles, reviews and opinions about your subject. It’s also advisable to inject some personality on your blog posts by letting the readers feel they know you. You can for example include some posts about yourself and your life experience e.g. photos from your Christmas vacation etc.
It’s also advisable to add some humor where appropriate and write your blog posts as if you are talking to close friend rather than to a whole lot of people. However, don’t overdo the casual approach though.
The two most common types of blogs
Generally there are two major types of blogs that you can run:
Product review blogs
Product review blogs are very popular and can be very profitable
Basically, these kinds of blogs focus on news and reviews for a certain line of products, say digital cameras for example.
The secret with such blogs is to narrow your niche as much as possible. So, instead of reviewing all manner of software, you may consider reviewing latest photo editing software. Or instead of reviewing all manner of electronics, you may consider reviewing the latest mp3 players.
As you can see, your blog doesn’t necessarily have to review physical products.
You can also create a blog to review music, books, information products, software etc. You can for example sign up as an amazon.com associate and review their products.
There are robust monetization capabilities with such blogs from Google adsense to affiliate marketing. For example, you can link to the trial download page of given software using your affiliate link and once the user purchases the software, you make money in affiliate commissions.
Informational blogs
Most blogs online today fall under this category.
Such blogs are usually centered on news and “How-to” information. For example this blog is mainly focused on making money online in Kenya.
The key with this kind of blog is quality content for your readers and the monetization channels vary from adsense type advertising to linking to affiliate products or even your own products/services. You can easily link directly to products with just a mention of their titles or keywords associated with them.
It’s advisable to start a blog based on a subject you are modestly familiar with. Pick a subject that you enjoy and know something about. That’s, a subject you can stay passionate about.
Let’s say you started a blog about “Golfing”. What are some of the topics you may blog about?
-Top ten tips to improve your swings
-How to choose the right club
-How to kill your slice (a nightmare to about 90% of golfers by the way)
-How to shave strokes off your game
-How to roll your putt at the right speed
In conclusion, blogging is a nice way to make money online in Kenya. The income potential of a blog is unlimited, really. You may therefore consider blogging as a way to start making an income online in Kenya.

Hello “Sultan Hamud Vet”. I don’t exactly understand whther you want to know how money is made or how the cash reaches you. Anyway, you make cash off of your blog by placing Google adsense ads, as well as through afiliate marketing and selling your own products. And there are different ways of receiving and withdrawing the cash. You can get the cash sent to you as a cheque or through payment processors such as PayPal and alertpay depending on the programs you are promoting. I wish you all the best
