In my first year of University, I developed keen interest in the internet. I wanted to learn how to make extra money on the internet.
The first phase of the journey can only be described as moments full of disappointments. But two years down the line, things seemed to be falling into place. My blogs were picking up and things were heading towards the right path.
By the time I was in fourth year, I had started to establish my presence on the internet. It was then that I realized that making money online was actually realistic and it was something I really wanted to explore.
This post will lay out my experiences and hopefully inspire you on your path to making money online. I am going to divide it into three sections as follows:
- The dark stage
- The hazy stage
- The enlightened stage
The Dark Stage
This is the period beginning September 2006 to late 2007. At this stage, I knew very little about computers, even less about the internet and absolutely nothing about making money on the internet. Google was my best friend and no matter how much I searched, I didn’t seem to be getting around to answering the question “How Do You Make Cash Online?”
At some point, the answer started to reveal itself from the vast bushes of the cyberspace. However most of the first programs I came across seemed to revolve around network marketing and MLM (the SFI and GDI kind of stuff) and I soon walked away. Well I have nothing against MLM or network marketing programs. I know there are people who have had great success with them. But I don’t think it is my kind of thing.
The Hazy Stage
This is the period extending from second to third year at the University. I learnt about affiliate marketing and blogging and I wanted to give them a shot.
This can be described as a chasing moment for me. I kept reading book after book and no matter how many books I read, I felt I still had some more to learn. Books kept piling up in my USB flash disk and bedroom.
I joined internet business training program after program but nothing seemed to quench my thirst. Funny enough, I enrolled for programs so readily that at some point I didn’t even remember the programs after joining. At one point I even lost $47 to a program I had joined on a three day trial at $3 and forgotten.
The Enlightened Stage
My moment of change came when I read Perry Marshall’s mantra, “If you have to fail, fail faster”; and learn. That changed my attitude forever.
You see the one thing missing in most people is action. They read a very powerful eBook or course and get some really meaningful insights but after that, they do nothing. They sit back, hope to use the lessons some day, and continue searching for more information. And the day never comes! It was the same thing with me but that attitude is no more.
About two months from reading Perry Marshall’s mantra (If you have to fail, fail faster), I started my first blog and I was really excited. At the same time, I decided to focus my efforts. I bought an affiliate training program and followed through with it, implementing every lesson learned on my first website.
At first it was not easy but I was slowly learning. Fast forward two years and I am now earning a living online while doing the things I enjoy. Things have finally fallen into place.
From my own experience I have learned that the formula of success is made of right information, action and focus. If you have downloaded my eBook, “How To Make Your First $1000 Online in Kenya, then you have heard me explain why all these are important.
The eBook I promised to you my valued subscribers is finally ready to download here. This is my way of saying thanks to you for being loyal readers of my blog.

I’ve heard of easy ways of online money making like surveys or blogging, so is this also “easy”? I believe that society is going viral in receiving what we need at the click of a button. I’m interested in your ebook. Was this inspired by Perry Marshall’s Mantra or your experience in college?
